User guide

A practical path through local EDF review.

Start with import and anonymisation, move into the landscape viewer, then add preprocessing, analysis, presets, exports, and local storage practices.

This guide is intentionally lightweight: enough structure to help a new user understand the workflow without turning the product site into a full documentation portal.

Guide sections

Move from file to artifact with a clear trail.

Each section below maps to a real app workflow and keeps privacy, local storage, and research-only boundaries visible.

Getting started

Acknowledge the research and education scope, then import an EDF / EDF+ recording from local iOS file sources.

  • Open a recording
  • Confirm local review scope
  • Check EDF / EDF+ metadata

Name and anonymise

Use the automatic EDF header anonymisation flow, provide a safe display name, and add only notes suitable for local research use.

  • Create anonymised ID
  • Add safe display name
  • Avoid identifiers in notes

Open the viewer

Rotate to landscape, choose channels, use the timeline, adjust gain and amplitude scale, and keep toolbar controls close to the signal.

  • Choose channels
  • Use montage and filters
  • Review annotations and notes

Analyze and export

Run selected-window analysis, use Raw or Processed sources, save runs and presets, then export research artifacts with warnings and provenance.

  • Run selected-window analysis
  • Save runs and presets
  • Export CSV / JSON / PNG / bundles

Step-by-step

Essential workflows.

Use these as product-level guide summaries. The in-app Help / FAQs carry more detailed topic and task entries.

Import EDF / EDF+: open a local file, let the app parse metadata, and add it to the local library.
Name and anonymise recordings: use anonymised identifiers, safe display names, and notes that avoid personal identifiers.
Open landscape viewer: use the Open Viewer action, rotate the phone, and review channel stacks with time grid and timeline.
Choose channels: search, toggle, select all, clear, choose first 20, or use prefix selection.
Use montage and filters: choose original, referential, average reference, bipolar, and display-only filter/downsample previews.
Work with annotations and notes: search EDF+ annotations, jump to events, and show or hide overlays.
Run selected-window analysis: pick channels, window, Raw or Processed source, parameters, and compute local results.
Use preprocessing: mark bad channels, review suggestions, preview drift/re-reference/ASR/ICA effects, and save processed runs when appropriate.
Save runs and presets: keep Analysis History, Parameter Presets, Preprocessing Runs, and Preprocessing Presets in Workspace.
Export research artifacts: generate CSV, JSON, PNG, Local Export Bundle, Local Batch Export manifests, and project manifests where eligible.
Manage privacy and local storage: delete app data by deleting the app, and separately manage files exported outside the app container.
